Samsung Galaxy S7 Doesn’t Offer Adaptable Storage Feature

We’re excited for the Samsung Galaxy S7 and the LG G5. Both the phones arguably stand neck to neck with each other, and there’s no doubt that they are one of the best phones you could purchase in the near future.

If you are due for an upgrade in the next few months and happen to ask an Android enthusiast for their recommendation for the best flagship, there’s a very good chance you will be suggested one of these phones. And not without good reason too.

But alas, as good as they can be, these devices are still not perfect. While everyone is celebrating the return of the microsd in the Galaxy S7, there’s one thing common with how both, the S7 and G5, deal with microSD cards: they won’t support one of Android 6.0’s practical features, Adoptable Storage.

If you haven’t heard of this before, we won’t really blame you. This wasn’t a very widely discussed addition to Android 6.0 Marshmallow, and with manufacturers moving away from microsd cards, their marketing machineries naturally did not bother publicizing the features that their phones could not take advantage of.

Samsung Galaxy S7 & Edge Have The Best Super AMOLED Display

In recent years, Samsung has become the king of smartphone displays, according to display guru, Dr. Raymond Soneira of DisplayMate. If you look back around the time of the Galaxy S4 and Note 3, you could start to see the evolution of AMOLED panels paying off and how they were finally catching up to LCD displays.

But starting with the Galaxy S5, Samsung jumped beyond its competitors who use LCD displays and is now really only competing with itself. After the S5 took the crown, we then saw the Note 4, S6, and Note 5 all grab the honors for best ever smartphone display. With the Galaxy S7, Samsung has once again outdone itself.

Samsung Galaxy S7: Game Launcher

The first place you’ll get started with games on the Galaxy S7 is the new Game Launcher, which lives in the phone’s app drawer and looks like a normal app folder. Tap it, and you’re greeted by something a little different from the usual folder frame. Technology Behind Galaxy S7 & Edge Dual Pixel Auto Focus Camera

Samsung announced all the juicy details about its upcoming Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge smartphone and for us geeks, the camera was one of the most interesting bits of the announcement.

Samsung is using the 1/2.5″ Sony IMX260 sensor. Compared to the Galaxy S6, the new sensor has bigger individual pixels (1.44 microns) and the optics have a wider aperture (f/1.7).

Samsung has also shaved off some of the height of the camera hump on the back, and it’s now down to just 0.46mm. The Galaxy S7 duo camera also comes with something they call Dual Pixel autofocus.

Among these tidbits the Dual Pixel autofocus technology took a back seat but we think it’s the most advanced aspect of the module. In its essence, Dual Pixel is the same Phase Detect technology that top-tier smartphones, DSLRs and mirrorless cameras have been using for quite some time in one form or the other.

Price, Release, and Availability

Although we’ve heard some rumors that the S7 is slated to be 10% cheaper than the Galaxy S6 was at launch, we’re not sold on that figure just yet. There wouldn’t seem to be any motivation on the part of Samsung to vary from the $600-$700 range we’ve come to expect for flagship devices.
